I am convinced that one day animal experiments will be a thing of the past. When they are, we will look back at the way we have treated animals in laboratories and wonder why we didn’t end them sooner. I think we’ll feel ashamed that we allowed animals to suffer so horrendously and astonished that we took so long to realise how much more sophisticated and reliable non-animal research methods are. When that day comes, we’ll have charities like the Dr Hadwen Trust to thank for their dedicated work developing ways to treat and cure human illness without using animals.
