Local fundraising and awareness events

Our hard-working and dedicated supporters are a greatly valued and dynamic part of our fundraising programme. Every single penny you raise will make a difference to our work helping people and animals. So whether you place a collection box in a local store, climb a mountain or organise a sponsored walk, you really can make a difference.

Here are some ideas:

  • Place a collection tin in a local store
  • Mount a display in your local library – call or email us and we’ll send you some leaflets
  • Take part in a sponsored walk or run
  • Arrange a street or supermarket collection
  • Hold a stall at a car boot sale or local fair
  • Exhibit and sell your paintings or other pieces of art work
  • Get local bands involved in a benefit gig
  • Hold a Dr Hadwen Trust coffee morning
  • Organise your very own event
  • Download our Fundraising Pack for lots of help and advice

Success Stories – meet some of our fundraisers

Here are some of the supporters who contribute to the our valuable work through their varied fundraising activities. There are many more besides, and we thank them all for their hard work, loyalty and dedication.

Howard Cain raised over £1000 for us in 2009. Firstly, he ran a 10k race and if that wasn’t enough, he then completed the ultimate challenge by climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. Howard is pictured here with his sister-in-law, Anita, who is a keen supporter of the Dr Hadwen Trust and persuaded Howard to take on these challenges to raise money for us.

Dawn Lewis and Jennie Stone organised their own sponsored walk around the area close to Dr Walter Hadwen’s original surgery in Stroud. They raised a fantastic £600 despite being almost washed away by heavy rain.

Jenny Dulin and friends from Leeds Animal Protection helped raise awareness about our work by holding stall in Leeds railway station. They really put in a great deal of effort, even having fabulous Dr Hadwen Trust sashes made for them all to wear.

Chuck and Suzi held a raffle at their tattoo parlour with the proceeds all going to the Dr Hadwen Trust. Chuck is pictured here with the winner who won a £100 tattoo and chose a beautiful tiger design. They raised a fantastic £200 with their very imaginative fundraising.

Andrea McLoughlin, Lucy Clay, Ginny Hay and Nan Mollison are some of our supporters who have completed sponsored runs, raising hundreds of pounds for our work.

Linda Savage and friends have raised hundreds of pounds entertaining people in day centre and nursing homes around Bournemouth with their line dancing demonstrations.

Steve Dale and his fantastic team of helpers have collected over £18,000 towards the Dr Hadwen Trust’s work simply through street and supermarket collections.

Christiane Fagan continues to support the Dr Hadwen Trust out in Gibraltar. She regularly holds stalls at craft fairs to raise awareness about our work and raises funds in the process. Christiane wrote a beautiful Nature Diary which she sells to raise funds for the Dr Hadwen Trust.

Golders Green Unitarian Church have raised over £6000 to help fund our work. They donate into the Universal Kinship Fund, a multi-faith group that shares our commitment to replace the use of animals in medical research.

Other regular fundraisers for the Dr Hadwen Trust include Chris Hadley, Malcolm Yeatman, Elaine Jacklin, Sharon Howe and Exeter friends for animals, Joan Jarvis, Marjorie Kemish, Jan Yarker and Shirley Mills.

Our sincere thanks to all of these exceptional people.
