Local fundraising and awareness events
In 2007 our active supporters raised nearly £54,000 towards the Dr Hadwen Trust’s life-saving research programme.
Our active supporters are a valued and dynamic part of our charity’s fundraising programme. Every single penny you raise will make a difference to our work helping people and animals. So whether you place a collection box in a local store or organise a street collection or sponsored walk, you really can make a difference.
What can I do?
Here are some ideas:
- Place a collection tin in a local store
- Contact your local library about mounting a display
- Organise an event of your own, see our factsheet: SalesandEvents.pdf
- Organise a sponsored walk or run, see our factsheet: SponsoredEvent.pdf
- Arrange a street or supermarket collection, see our factsheet: StreetCollections.pdf
- Have a stall at a car boot sale or local fair
- Get yourself sponsored for something like a diet, a head shave or a silence!
- Hold a Dr Hadwen Trust quiz night
- Exhibit and sell your paintings or other pieces of art work.
- Get local bands involved in a benefit gig
- Have a read, dance or walkathon
- Hold a Dr Hadwen Trust coffee morning
- Get some leaflets and posters now – here’s what we’ve got: DHT_promomaterials.pdf
Success Stories – Meet some of our Fundraisers
Here are some of the supporters who contribute to the Trust’s valuable work through their fundraising activities. There are many more besides, and we thank them all for their loyalty and dedication.
In July 2006 David Hembrow and Terry Clark (pictured) completed an epic bike ride from Land’s End to John O’Groats. The lads undertook the ride to celebrate their 40th birthdays and also to raise funds for the Dr Hadwen Trust’s research. Over a £1000 in sponsorship was raised.
Linda Savage and line-dancing friends in Bournemouth have raised over £400 entertaining folks in day centre and nursing homes around Bournemouth. They are still going strong!
If you visit a Dr Hadwen Trust stand at any event throughout the midlands, the chances are that it’s Julie Roberts (pictured) behind it! Julie is tireless in her efforts to promote the Trust’s work and attend as many events on our behalf as is humanly possible.
In August 2006 Louise Fennel of Nottingham took to her bike and completed the nearly 1000 miles between Land’s End and John O’Groats. Our summer appeal was based on Louise’s ride and raised nearly £24,000. Louise herself personally raised nearly £1500.
In 2004 Jonathan Field and Dawn Munasinha placed a collection tin in their local health food store in Watford, and have managed the tin on our behalf ever since. The tin has performed well, and so far has raised nearly £400!
Steve Dale (pictured) of Peterborough and his loyal team of helpers have collected over £12,000 towards the Trust’s work simply through Street and Supermarket collections.
Other regular fundraisers for the Trust include Malcolm Yeatman, Elaine Jacklin, Sharon Howe and Exeter friends for animals, St Albans Animal Rights, Montgomery Voice for Animals, Sarah Spence, Jacquie Alford, Barbara Hindle, Joan Jarvis and Chris Hadley.
