The Dr Hadwen Trust for Humane Research appoints new CEO

Kailah Eglington has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer for the Dr Hadwen Trust for Humane Research (DHT), the UK’s leading medical research charity funding exclusively non-animal techniques to replace animal experiments. Terry Huxtable is stepping down as CEO after 22 years of service to the charity.

Kailah comes to the DHT from a career spanning 39 years in the corporate sector. The charity was attracted to her strong financial roots, her 23-year record in change management and strategic ‘hands on’ leadership coupled with her deep commitment to the ethos and values of the DHT.

On her appointment, Kailah said: “I am delighted to be taking up this role and looking forward to contributing to the continued success and growth of a charity that is benefitting both humans and animals through the funding of cutting-edge medical research. The DHT is making a practical, long term difference to the future of medical science without animal experiments, and I am proud to be leading the charity into the next exciting chapter of its life.”

Approaching its fortieth anniversary next year, the Dr Hadwen Trust has been experiencing exceptional growth and development with an expanding scientific research portfolio funding the development of techniques to advance medicine and replace animal experiments. The charity is also playing an instrumental role in influencing policy development at European and national level, to ensure that humane research is high on the political agenda.

Isobelle Gladstone, chair of the Dr Hadwen Trust’s Board of Trustees, said “Kailah has the vision and drive to lead the Dr Hadwen Trust into an exciting and ambitious future. We are proud of what we have achieved so far and are poised to do even more with Kailah leading the team.”
