New Botox tests spare the animals
U.S. agencies have approved alternative methods to check safety of Botox toxin batches and research is underway to make all such animal toxicity experiments obsolete within 20 years.
Allergan Inc., the company that makes Botox, announced earlier that the Food and Drug Administration has approved its new method to test Botox's potency. Instead of having to test every batch on live animals, it can now run a test on cells in a lab dish.
