Meet Some of our Fundraisers

Here are some of the supporters who contribute to our valuable work through their varied fundraising activities. There are many more besides, and we thank them all for their hard work, loyalty and dedication.

Amy Jenning Great South Run

Amy Jennings

Supporter Amy Jennings ran 10 miles in October at the Great South Run and managed to raise £453 for us.  Amy would like to say ‘a massive thank you to everyone who has donated and supported me during the build up to the run!  I could not have done it without them all and their support has meant the world’.

Jenny Dulin at Leeds Station Oct 2011

Jenny Dulin and friends

Many thanks to Jenny, Joanne and Carla who managed to raise over £100 at Leeds Railway Station in October.

Jenny Dulin at Hope Pastures Oct 2011

Many thanks again to Jenny who organised another stall in Leeds at Hope Pastures with the help of Sue and a very cute pony!

Ant Jarrett

Ant Jarrett recently completed the Cardiff half marathon in an amazing 1 hour 57 minutes and raised a fantastic £300 for the DHT.

Thank you so much, Ant and congratulations!

James Kemp Kilimanjaro

James Kemp

James recently climbed Mount Kilimanjaro and raised nearly £700 for the DHT.

In his own words: "I got up and down the mountain in one piece. Getting down was a lot harder than i expected as by the time i got to the summit my legs had turned to jelly and were all over the place. We still had an eight hour walk to get back to the camp to our sleeping bags, so the return journey was more of a stumble than a walk. But was a great experience...".

He's already planning what to do for next years fundraising event!

Georgie Miller

Back in August Georgie and her friends climbed Mount Snowden in just their flip flops and have so far managed to raise £460 for us and the money is still rolling in.  We’ll keep you posted with their grand total but for now, we’d just like to say well done to Georgie and friends, we hope all your feet have recovered by now!

 Anita Ghafoor

In July, Anita ran an impressive 10km in the Manchester Race for Life and raised £130 for us.

Stephen Balfour

Despite being scared of heights (it’s true he is really scared), Stephen has taken on the 3 peaks challenge.  He managed to reach all 3 British peaks including Ben Nevis and Snowdon in 22 hours and raised £285 for us.

Skydive

Kim Stokes and her brother Steven

Are this season’s adrenalin junkies having sky dived from a dizzying 13,000 feet in aid of the DHT. Kim told us how amazing the experience was and how truly alive it made her feel. Well they raised a staggering £550 from this brave feat. Kim said that she will definitely be doing it again. We can’t wait to see you soaring the heights again Kim.

Run For ALL Life 2011

Huge congratulations go to Dawn Biram who organised the ‘Run For ALL Life’ for the 2nd year running on 21 May. The turn-out was great and ‘Pure Gym’ were there to help out with the warm up. Dawn managed to raise an excellent £600 for the 2011 event.  Congratulations to Dawn and all those who took part including Hannah, Alex and Donna.

Pat Perry’s 60 Length Non Stop Swim

Pat Perry swam 60 lengths for the DHT without stopping once. We’re all dazzled by Pat’s stamina and extremely impressed that she has raised a massive £500. Well done Pat, you’re an inspiration to us all.

Linda Savage held a skittles evening

Linda Savage held a skittles evening in Bournemouth in April and raised £93.

Nic Copeland

Nic ran the Paris Marathon in just over 4 hours in April and raised an incredible £1000! We’re all extremely proud of Nic for taking on and completing such a challenge (and in such great time too), not to mention raising a record-breaking sum for the DHT. Congratulations Nic.

 Angela Tubb

Angela is pictured wearing the new DHT T-shirt having completed the Leeds Half Marathon in less than 2 hours and raising £140 in the process. Angela had a fantastic time and commented on how lovely all the people involved were. She took inspiration from a wheelchair athlete who, after struggling up a really tough hill, came whizzing past everyone on his decline. She said she felt an enormous respect for him. Well, we have enormous respect for you Angela - thank you.

 Maribel Pascual

Maribel competed in The Great Midlands Fun Run.  She smashed her fundraising target of £250 and managed to raise £383.00.

 Angela Coles

Lympstone Art Group have a tradition that the winner of the best painting gets to produce the following years raffle prize. Angela Coles won the cup in 2010 and her lovely painting of Lympstone, Devon titled ‘Pause for thought’ was included in the 2011 raffle.  Angela has kindly donated £103.25 from this raffle.

 Christiane Fagan

She continues to support the Dr Hadwen Trust out in Gibraltar. She regularly holds stalls at craft fairs to raise awareness about our work and raises funds in the process. Christiane wrote a beautiful Nature Diary which she sells to raise funds for the Dr Hadwen Trust.

Stalls and Street Collections

A big thanks goes to fundraisers Jenny Dulin, Elaine Jacklin, Steve Dale and helpers, Chris Hadley, Martin Hobson, Jan Yarker and Shirley Mills who regularly hold stalls and street collections for us.  They do an amazing job month after month and help us gain new supporters and vital funds.  Our sincere thanks to all of these exceptional people.

Other ways that our supporters have helped raised funds for us include book and cake stalls, organising a pamper day at Lush, line dancing at residential homes, sponsored walks, climbing Mount Kilimanjaro and organising a raffle at a tattoo parlour.  To find out how you can get involved, click here ways-to-help
